The Nigeria Police, Zone Five, Headquarters, Benin has assured residents in Edo, Delta and Bayelsa States that adequate security arrangement has been put in place across the three states with the Zone to ensure a peaceful Eid-el-Fitri celebration.
A statement signed by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone Five, AIG Abubakar Adamu Mohammed enjoined members of the public to go about their businesses without fear as security will be beefed up in all the Mosques, worship centers, recreation centers, Radio and Television houses, Cinema halls, Government properties amongst others.
The statement said men of tactical operation squad, intervention squad, safer highways, counter terrorist unit, explosive ordinance division and bomb unit will be deployed to all strategic locations across the Zone to ensure security of lives and properties during the Sallah celebration.
AIG Mohammed added that the Zone is mindful of the fact that there will be heavy traffic during the period and appealed to motorists traversing along Edo, Delta and Bayelsa states to cooperate with officers and men deployed for traffic control duties with a view to ease traffic congestion along these routes.
He advised members of the public to be security conscious and report any suspicious person or movement to the nearest police station.
