Against the backdrop of the recent outbreak of lassa fever in Lagos and Yobe States, some medical practitioners in Benin City have listed causes, symptoms and prevention of the disease.
Three persons tested positive to Lassa fever in Lagos State, while four Quaranted in Yobe State an indication that the country has not been able to eradicate the spread of the disease.
Some medical experts who include the Vice Chancellor Ondo State University of Medical Sciences Professor Friday Okonofua and others have describe Lassa Fever as dangerous and contagious diseases caused by a rat known as Multi-Mermaid rat, mostly gotten from bush burning and filth.
Commenting of the possible way of avoiding the disease the medical experts said hygiene, proper covering of edible items, and regular washing of plates used for eating are major ways of avoiding the disease.
The medical experts identified Irua Specialist Teaching Hospital as a special center for diagnosis and treatment of the deadly disease.
