Secretary-General of African Football Confederation Hicham El Amrani has resigned without giving any explanation.
The thirty-seven-year-old Moroccan revealed his decision in a letter to African national football associations.
Hicham El Amrani became Secretary-General, first on an interim basis, in 2010 when Egyptian Mustapha Fahmy moved to global football body FIFA.
Meanwhile, CAF President, Ahmad, chaired a meeting today with staff of the organization at the CAF Secretariat in Cairo, Egypt.
The meeting marked his effective assumption of office following his election to the position during the thirty-ninth Ordinary General Assembly in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
He announced that he has accepted the resignation of the General Secretary, Hicham El Amrani, adding that deputy General Secretary, Essam Ahmed, an Egyptian, will act in that capacity until further notice.
