Still on the alleged missing 49.8 billion Naira from the coffers of the NNPC, members of the opposition party in the senate have expressed displeasure over the decision of the Senate President to refer the matter to the committee on finance for investigation.
Addressing newsmen after today’s plenary, the Senate minority leader and member of the APC, George Akume said the opposition is of the view that the matter be referred to the Senate Committee on Public Accounts.
He said the alleged missing 49.8 billion Dollars was authentic information from the Central Bank of Nigeria and should therefore not be swept under the carpet.
Responding on the report by the CBN that the national assembly gets 25 percent of the national budget, Senator Ayoade Ademola representing Oyo Central said only 5.5 percent of the budget gets to the National Assembly.
