Appeal Court strikes out Appeal filed by Osaro Obaze

The Court of Appeal sitting in Benin has struck out the appeal filed by the legislator-elect of Oredo East constituency at the Edo State House of Assembly, Osaro Obaze pertaining to his eligibility to contest the election.

Dismissing the appeal, Justice Moore Abraham-Adumein said the appeal lacked merit thereby holding that Uyi Ekhosuehi is the authentic candidate of the APC for Oredo East constituency in the last State House of Assembly election.

Justice Abraham-Adumein thereafter upheld the ruling of the High Court which held that Osaro Obaze was not eligible to contest the House of Assembly election.

Meanwhile, counsel to the APC member-elect of the Oredo East constituency, Barrister Charity Aiguobaweghian said they will head to the Supreme Court to appeal the judgment.
