Army court-martials three officers, eleven soldiers accused of serious criminal offences

The Nigerian Army has commenced proceedings to court martial fourteen officers and soldiers accused of murder, kidnapping, desertion and other criminal offences.

The General Officer Commanding Army Six Division, Port Harcourt, Jamiu Sarkam who inaugurated the court proceedings in Port Harcourt said the suspects were officers and soldiers of the Division.

Major General Sarkam added that the army has zero tolerance to indiscipline and would never shield any personnel no matter how highly placed from the law.

According to him, the trial will not only be to prosecute the suspects but to discourage others from indulging in such acts.

The accused personnel are a serving major, two staff sergeants and eleven soldiers.
