Arogho youths protest alleged marginalization of community

The entrance leading to the gate of Edo State House of Assembly was for several hours today besieged by a group of youths protesting alleged marginalization and enslavement by oil companies operating in their domain.

The protesters from Orogho, an oil producing area chanting solidarity songs to press home their demands.

Spokeperson for the youths Aiyeki Victor said they decided to took their protest to the house of assembly to register the alleged maltreatment the two oil operating companies are subjecting them to, which is affecting the country seriously.

The spokeperson also called that despite the community being an oil producing host community there is also no single infrastructure on ground to show for it, stressing that the companies are planning to take more oil wells to neighboring Delta state.

Addressing the protesters the speaker Uyi Igbe while commending the protesters for carrying out their activities peacefully described the marginalization of oil producing host companies in the area of infrastructure as inhuman.

The speaker however assured Orogho youths that the house will intervene and direct the communities on oil and gas to swing into action.

The youths however vowed not to relent while the oil companies accept their responsibility and see their host communities as partner in progress.
