Ayo Fayose Emerges PDP Candidate for Ekiti State Governorship Election

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose has been declared winner of the Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial primary.
He was declared winner of the election with 462 votes out of the 477 cast by the Dr Peter Odili led Electoral Panel on Saturday.
The primary was conducted to choose the PDP candidate for the governorship election coming up in June.
The primary poll conducted at Eagle Hall along Ado/Ikere Road was greeted by protests by a former Minister of Police Affairs, Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade, rtd, Mr. Dayo Adeyeye, Ambassador Dare Bejide, among others.
The aggrieved aspirants and some irate youths, who accompanied them to the venue of the election, were dispersed with teargas by policemen.
The aggrieved aspirants, apart from boycotting the poll, had dragged the party to court via a case filed at a Federal High Court by one of the aspirants, Mr. Deji Ajayi. Had alleged that the return of Ayo Fayose to the party in 2012 did not follow the stipulated procedure of the party.
