Chairman, Ogba Community murdered by gunmen

Inhabitants of Ogba community in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State have been thrown into mourning following the alleged assassination of the Chairman, Community Development Association identified as Mr. Osarumwense Omorogbe by unknown gun men.

Wellington Akodeja quotes the victim’s wife as saying that the suspected assailants left the victim’s residence without carrying any property.

It was a sorrowful sight, as sympathizers converged at the scene in Ogba Community to catch a glimpse of what transpired.

Bloodstains were visible at the deceased’s residence where he was said to have been shot by the unidentified gunmen.

Some family members said the incident occurred at about nine o’clock on Tuesday night when four young men went to the late Osarumwense Omorogbe’s house demanding to see him for the settlement of a dispute.

They said the gunmen forced their way into the apartment and shot the victim who was the Chairman of Ogba Community Development Association.

It was learnt that the incident has since been reported to the police, while the late Osarumwense Omorogbe’s corpse has been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.

When contacted for comment, the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Moses Eguavoen in a telephone interview said the police have commenced investigation on the issue while assuring justice on the matter.
