Court sentences Ex-Plateau gov. Joshua Dariye to 14 years in prison

The FCT High Court sitting in Gudu, Abuja has sentenced former Plateau State Governor, Joshua Dariye to fourteen years in prison.

Mr. Dariye was sentenced to two years in prison for criminal misappropriation and fourteen years for criminal breach of trust.

The court ruled that all charges are to run concurrently without an option of fine.

The former Governor was also found guilty bothering on criminal breach of trust, dishonesty and diversion of funds meant for the ecological needs of Plateau state.

He has been standing trial for over ten years on a twenty-three count charge for money laundering allegedly diverting the State’s one point one-two-six billion naira ecological funds.

Mr. Dariye who served as Governor of Plateau State from 1999 to 2007 was arraigned by the EFCC on charges bordering on money laundering and other corruption charges.
