Defection: PDP urges Tambuwal to resign as speaker

The National Working Committee of the PDP has expressed optimism that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal would do the needful since his new party, APC is in the minority.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olisa Metuh expressed this in a statement, while reacting to Alhaji Tambuwal’s defection to the APC.

The statement said the PDP National Working Committee met with the party`s leaders in the House of Representatives concerning the defection of the speaker.

It said after a thorough consideration of the matter, the committee came to a conclusion that the speaker, as a responsible elected officer, knows what is needful and honourable of him since his new party is in the minority.

According to the statement, the PDP is mindful of the fact that Alhaji Tambuwal became speaker on its platform as the political party with the majority of seats in the House of Representatives.

This, it said, is an incontrovertible fact and has not changed.
