Delayed MDGs Appropriation Fund: House Of Reps. Denies Responsibility

The House Of Representatives Committee on Millennium Development Goals, MDGs says the House of Representatives is not responsible for delays in the release of funds appropriated for government ministries departments and agencies. The Chairman, House Committee on MDGs Honourable Hassan Ado stated this while addressing the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Dr Akinwunmi Adeshina on the issue of delayed funds, which the minister identified as one of the challenges the ministry is faced with in budget performance. Earlier, the minister, federal ministry of agriculture and rural development had identified adequate funding, bad timing as some of the factors mitigating against effective budget implementation The minister also shed more light on some of the plans designed by the ministry towards ensuring that Nigerians benefit from the 2014 budget Meanwhile, the House Committee on MDGs charged the minister to ensure that all the goals set under the MDGs is achieved to alleviate the sufferings of the masses especially in rural areas.
