Don advises media practitionals on professionalism

Prof. Emevwo Biakolo, the Dean, School of Media and Communication, Pan-African University, Lagos, on Monday urged Nigerian journalists to always discharge their duties professionally.

Biakolo made the plea at a four-day workshop on “Best Journalism Practices in the Digital Age”, which opened in Lagos.

The workshop was organised by the U.S. Consulate in conjunction with Pan-African University and the Nigerian Guild of Editors.

Biakolo said that the more journalists were equipped to do their jobs, the better the society.

He said that the workshop would help media practitioners to optimise their skills and serve the society better.

Mrs. Joke Omotunde, the Public Relations Officer, Print Media of the U.S Consulate, said that the workshop was organised as part of the 2013 celebration of women journalists.

“The Nigerian media must continue to be dynamic and meet the challenges of news gathering,” she said.
