EDHA Debunks Claim Of Plans To Legalize Activities Of Herdsmen

Edo State House of Assembly has debunk claims in some quarters that the grazing bill currently before  it was to legalize the activities of herdsmen in the state.

The Speaker, Doctor Justin Okonoboh made the clarification today in an interactive session with newsmen.

The speaker, Doctor Justin Okonoboh said contrary to speculations, the bill is not a government bill but that of a private member which was introduced to the house for debate because of the nefarious activities of herdsmen in the state.

The speaker said as of now, the house has not taken any stand on the bill hence the need for a public hearing which is to be held next week.
He said the onus now rest on the submission of the people during the public hearing whether to accept the bill or not as the house has no intention whatsoever to manipulate or impose the bill on the people.

According to the speaker, the house has invited different interest groups ranging from civil society, religious bodies, community leaders, representatives from the government, academia and Journalist among others.
