The need for the people to live together, irrespective of religious affiliation and belief has been emphasized.
The emphasis was made by the Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Doctor Justin Okonoboh while breaking fast with Muslims in Benin.
Commenting during the breaking of fast with Muslims, the Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Doctor Justin Okonoboh wished Muslim faithful well for a successfully embarking on the fast.
He said there is no alternative to the unity and peace of the country, irrespective of religious differences.
While urging the Muslim faithful to use the period to pray for the President and the progress of the country, Doctor Okonoboh wished them a successful Eid-el-Fitri celebration.
Speaking in the same vein, a close associate of the Speaker and Chairman, AIT, Raymond Dopesi Junior congratulated the Muslim faithful for their successful fast.
The Imam, House of Assembly Mosque, while intimating the speaker on the relevant of the Ramadan fast, said it is the season where the faithful refrain from their sinful ways.
The Imam commended the House of Assembly headed by Doctor Justin Okonoboh for its unparalleled leadership and tolerance, emphasizing that such commitment has distinguished him as a detribalized Nigerian and a man that cherishes all.
Different lectures by Islamic scholars were also delivered.
The Federal Government has declared Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 as public holiday to mark Eid-el-Fitri, which will be celebrated on Sunday 25th June, 2017.
