The police AIG Zone five, Benin says media houses, INEC offices and all other public interest places will be secured by police men before and after this month fourteenth governorship election.
Wellington Akodeja reports that AIG Hashimu Argungun made this known while on a sensitization tour of Irua and Auchi area commanding units in Edo State.
AIG Argungun said “as election is coming nearer, much is expected from the police most especially in the area of protecting lives and property and also playing an impartial role in the conduct of the election”.
The AIG itemized vulnerable and problematic areas that need to be manned by police men, adding that all security officers who will be on duty on Election Day must be armed to the teeth.
Mr. Argungun said “when all the logistics are provided, the officers on duty have no reason not to perform optimally well as expected by the general public”.
The police AIG was accompany by the Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Olayinka Balogun and other senior police officers from Zonal and state command respectively.
