The Edo state Wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers says the indefinite strike by Public Primary school Heads and Teachers in the state which started on the 18th of January 2021 is still in Force in all the eighteen Local Government Areas of the state and will continue unhindered on Monday 1st February, 2021 despite the threats allegedly issued by the State Government to striking teachers.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Edo state NUT chairman, Pius Okhueleigbe and the State Secretary Comrade Mike Moni and others.
The statement reiterates the Union’s earlier resolution that Public Primary school Heads, Teachers, parents, pupils and the general public to disregard all forms of pronouncements, and moves from any quarter, as the union remains resolute and determined to actualise the teachers ten points demands from Edo State Government.
The statement advised parents of children or wards in public primary schools in Edo state to keep them at home, pending when the issues in dispute are resolved.
The statement also calls on well-meaning Nigerians and institutions in Edo State to prevail on the State Government to meet the demands of Teachers.
Few days ago, Edo State Government few days ago announced that the resumption of public and private Primary schools in the State will commence Monday, the 1st of February, 2021 and announced the activation of the No Work, No Pay policy should teachers stay away from school.
