Displaying the detective dogs before newsmen, Mr. Olayinka Balogun disclosed that it is in line with the new drive of the acting Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Abubakar to reduce crime in the country with all available measures.
Mr. Balogun explained that the dogs also serve as frontiers for the police men when moving to a scene adding that with the introduction of the detective dogs, the police are prepared to reduce crime to the lowest level.
The dogs are of two categories, the sniffers and the crowd controllers. The sniffers are meant to checkmate contra bound items, hidden explosives and detecting buried objects while the crowd controllers are used to maintain peace in a chaotic atmosphere.
