The election into the executive of Edo State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ scheduled for today did not hold after all.
Best Orator reports that members, who turned up in a large number at the Oba Oguola NUJ Press Centre, Benin City were disappointed when news filtered in that the election has been postponed.
The premises was filled to capacity as registered members of the NUJ from all the chapels stormed the centre to exercise their civic responsibility to vote the candidate of their choice.
Member’s expectations were however cut shot following pronouncement by the Vice President, South-South Zone of the Union, Comrade Uzaka Seiyefa postponing the election to a later date. According to him, the postponement was to give room for a thorough investigation of candidate credentials, a situation that prompted members to raise eyebrow.
Reacting on the development, some candidates described the decision of the National Executive as unfortunate.
