The need to encourage local artists in order to compete with their foreign counterpart has been emphasized.
The emphasis was made by the Romanian consul to Edo and Delta states and the Esama of Benin Sir, Chief Doctor Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion during his eighty third birthday celebration hosted by performing musicians association of Nigeria, PMAN.
A thunderous ovation to herald the arrival of the Esama of Benin to the venue of the special performance by member of Edo State chapter of PMAN to celebrate Sir, Chief Doctor Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion at 83.
Investigations revealed that the venue of the event was experiencing for the first time such high turnout of guests who with a very loud ovation announced the man of the moment the Esama of Benin and his large entourage.
In his address of welcome chairman PMAN Edo state Willie Eghe Nova said the special event which was organized by the association was not only to appreciate him for his numerous achievement to the world at large but to continuously pray that he should not relent in propagate the good work which God had sent him to do.
The musical display of legendary Fabomo and the ever ready Akaba gave the thrills which reminded the celebrant and the Esama of Benin the memories of the yes and yes and him display how the steps were carried out.
Some traditional dancers from Benin and Esan also added spice to the event
Appreciating PMAN for honouring him the Esama of Benin said it is a thing of joy to see the association waxing stronger and enjoined them to build their foundation on unity.
The Esama who assured PMAN Edo state of his imminent support maintained that his love for music will never allow him to see the association go down the drain .
Different musical display were also on exhibition at the ceremony.
