As part of measures to address security challenges, Edo State Government has donated fifty patrol vans to the state police command.
In his remark, Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole described the initiative as his government’s contribution to re-enforce the capacity of the police to fight crime in the state.
While describing the relationship between his administration and security operatives as very cordial, Comrade Oshiomhole advocated collective effort to address insecurity in the country.
Receiving the vans on behalf of Edo State Police Command, the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar who appreciated the state government for the gesture, assured of commitment to effective policing of all parts of the state.
Highpoint was the presentation of the keys to the Acting IGP for onward delivery to the Command.
Earlier, the Acting IGP paid a courtesy call on the governor where he appreciated his contributions to the police force. Mohammed Abubakar expressed commitment to building a police force that will be effective and efficient in the discharge of its constitutional duties.
Responding, Comrade Oshiomhole who commended President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for the choice of Mohammed Abubakar for Acting IGP, harped on the need to re-appraise development strategy required for economic growth to improve on security, which is if pre-condition for investors to come to Nigeria for business.
