EDSIEC holds maiden meeting with political parties

Ahead of the March three date for Local Government Elections in Edo State, the State Independent Electoral Commission has met with political party representatives and other stakeholders.

Chairman of Edo State Independent Electoral Commission, Professor Stanley Orobator admonished the various political parties to conduct themselves and play the game according to the rules.

He said with the release of the election date, the commission is ready to conduct elections different from what has been obtained in the past.

Some of the representatives of the various political parties that attended the meeting raised different fundamental questions and also commented on their party stance.

The meeting almost degenerated into a rowdy session as some political parties protested attempt by another member of the APC to comment, a situation that was immediately brought under control.

The state commissioner for police Johnson Babatunde Kukumo commented on his impression as regards the meeting and plans by the police for the local government elections

Political parties are expected to hold their primaries between seventeenth and twenty-fourth of January while collection of forms will commence from twenty-fifth of January 2018 among others.
