Federal Government declares 1st October, 2020 public holiday in commemoration of Nigeria’s 60th independence

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, October One as public holiday to mark Nigeria’s sixtieth Independence Day anniversary celebration.

Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola congratulated Nigerians on the celebration of the country’s diamond jubilee and assured them of government’s unwavering commitment to the socio-economic transformation of the country.

The minister said although sixty years of independence calls for pomp and celebration, Nigeria will make it a low-key celebration in view of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
