FG directs undergraduates of Universities of Agriculture to own farms

The Federal Government says it would soon phase out social sciences from the academic programmes of federal Universities of Agriculture in the country.

It also directed governing councils of these universities to ensure that all two hundred Level to final year students undergoing courses in agricultural related disciplines own a farm each.

It directed members of the governing councils of the universities to make it mandatory that graduation from any of the agricultural based institutions should be based on sixty per cent of practical work and forty per cent theory.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, gave these directives to the governing council members of the federal universities at a meeting in his office in Abuja.
