Nigeria’s First Lady, Patience Jonathan, has promised to make remarkable improvement in the lives of women in all parts of the country through effective economic empowerment.
Hajiya Rabi Shinkafi, National Coordinator, Women for Change Initiative, made the statement in Gusau on Tuesday, on behalf of Jonathan during a one day familiarisation visit to Zamfara.

“Zamfara state women, like their counterpart across the country, would be carried along to reap the benefits of the programme by providing them access to life opportunities including political appointment,” she said.
Shinkafi said the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan was gender friendly, having appointed 11 female ministers to key portfolios in Federal Executive Council.
Also speaking, the Zonal coordinator, Women for Change Initiatives in charge of North West zone, Hajiya Aishatu Maradun, assured Zamfara women that they would have cause to smile in the near future.
She said a lot of goodies that could make life better for the rural women were in the pipeline and efforts were being intensified to actualise them.
Zamfara state commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Bilikisu Bungudu, said that the Zamfara state government would remain supportive of any programme that would assist women to become self reliant
