A former governorship candidate of the one-time Amodu Sheriff faction of the People’s Democratic Party in the 2016 Edo State governorship election, Mathew Iduoriyekemwen has officially resigned as a member of the PDP.
Best Mbiere reports that Mr. Iduoriyekemwen made the decision public while addressing some of his supporters.
Mr. Matthew Iduoriyemwen said his decision to resign from the PDP is to enable him consolidate this political career in another political party.
Mr. Iduoriyekemwen who said he was a founding member of the People’s Democratic Party alledged that a cabal hijacked the party without recourse to those who have worked tirelessly for the party.
Some supporters of Matthew Iduoriyekemwen describe his resignation from the People’s Democratic Party as a welcome development. They alledged that many people in the party attempted to relegate him to the background the supporters pledged their unflinching support to Matthew Iduoriyekemwen’s political ambition.
Reacting to this development, the publicity Secretary of the People Democratic Party, Chris Nehikharae said the party has not officially received Matthew Iduoriyekemwen is resignation, adding that the party had before the election suspended for alledged anti-party activities.
The former PDP leader, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen says he will soon announce his next line of action politically.
Matthew Iduoriyekemwen was a former majority leader, Edo State House of Assembly.
