Fresh returnees from Libya who arrived in Benin City during the week on Wednesday agitated against alleged non-fulfillment of the promise by Edo State Government to empower and assist them financially.
The returnees who were obviously aggrieved, lamented that although they are being provided with food and shelter, they have not been given the stipend allocated to them by the federal government, like their counterparts in Lagos.
They said that the one thousand naira made available to them by the Edo State government for transportation to their various homes is not enough
Edo State Commissioner for Youths and Special Duties Mika Amanokha was on the ground to pacify the agitating returnees, and enumerates the plans the Edo State Government has on the ground to help the returnees start afresh.
The commissioner revealed that some new batches of returnees from Libya are expected to arrive next week.
