God’s Historic Chapel marks Easter with Cantata

The annual Easter Cantata put together by God’s Historic Chapel, GRA, Benin City to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ has been held amidst pomp and pageantry.

The choristers dressed in beautiful attire gave a good account of themselves as each denominational choir tried to out-do one another.

In his opening remark, the founder of the Church, Sir, Chief, Doctor Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin appreciated personalities and the various denominational choir for honouring the invitation to be part of the annual event.

Represented by the Resident Pastor, God’s Historic Chapel, Reverend Genesis Enegbuma, said the essence of the event was to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who came into the world to redeem mankind. The Man of God used the opportunity to inform the congregation on the sixtieth birthday anniversary of the Matriarch of the House of Igbinedion,  which is being celebrated in the United Kingdom.

The guest preacher, Pastor Stephen Chika, who spoke on the theme of this year’s Easter Cantata, the “Power of Resurrection” said the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ are worth celebrating by those who believe in Christ. Pastor Chika said God in His infinite wisdom raised Christ from death and commissioned Him to rule over the world.

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of gift items including cash to all the participating denominational choir. The various choir later joined in accord to render “Hallelujah Chorus”.

The participating choirs are Saint Francis, Evergreen Leaf, Peculiar Family, Christ Apostolic Christian, Victories Christian and Divine Favour Choir. Others are God’s Historic Choir, God Gift and Saint Gabriel the Arch Angel Choir.
