Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has promised to arrest those behind the incessant killings in Benue State.
The police boss also assured the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom and other stakeholders that all those involved in the killing of over seventy residents of the state, will be brought to justice.
Speaking in Makurdi, Benue State capital on his arrival, following President Muhammadu Buhari’s order to move to Benue State and restore law and order, the IGP said, three counter-terrorism units have been deployed alongside mobile policemen to Benue State.
He said the counter-terrorism units will be assisted by the aerial surveillance and the operations will spread to both Nasarawa and Taraba State communities that share the border with Benue State.
Also speaking, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom who insisted that the attackers are camped in Tunga, Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State said he expected the governor to investigate his claims.
He also insisted that the IGP must arrest the leadership of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, for justice to prevail.
