The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has assured that it would work hard to make Nigeria’s electoral system more inclusive in order to accommodate voting by citizens in diaspora.
Chairman of the Commission, Professor Attahiru Jega gave the assurance when Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, Sudirman Haseng led a delegation to his office.
He told the envoy that Nigeria has a lot to learn from Indonesia’s electoral experience.
The INEC Chairman said the commission has made recommendations to amend the provision to the National Assembly.
Professor Jega added that Nigeria is looking for the best model to adopt in terms of diaspora voting.
On his part, the Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Sudirman Haseng invited INEC to observe voting by Indonesians in Nigeria during their parliamentary elections slated for fifty and sixth of April.
