The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has expressed readiness to conclude rerun elections in four states not later than Thirty-first of July.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu stated this today in Abuja during his second quarterly meeting with states Resident Electoral Commissioners.
In his brief remarks shortly before the meeting was dissolved into a closed door session, Professor Yakubu also restated the readiness of the commission for the forthcoming governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states.
Professor Yakubu added that the commission is now into de-duplication to ensure that there are no multiple registrants.
Court-ordered re-run elections in Rivers, Kogi, Kano and Imo states were cancelled or suspended by the commission following alleged widespread electoral malfeasance and violence which marred the exercise.
