As part of efforts to decongest existing polling units, INEC plans to create additional thirty thousand units across the Country bringing the total number of pulling units in the Country to One Hundred and Fifty Thousand.
INEC Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega made this known at a town hall meeting at the National Press Centre, Radio House Abuja.
Professor Jega explained that the Commission intended that each Pulling unit would have a maximum of Five Hundred voters
According to the INEC Chairman, the creation of additional polling units will eliminate Congestion and take care of additional Settlements in the event of crisis and demolition as witness in the Federal Capital Territory and some Cities
Professor Jega said that States under State of emergency were placed in the third Phase of the distribution of permanent Voter Cards and the continuous voter registration scheduled for August this year.
The INEC boss clarified that in the event of a loss of card due to flood, fire or some other incidents, the voter could apply for a replacement.
He cautioned against registering anew such circumstances as that would amount to multiple registration, which is an offence.
