IUO Holds Second Phase Of Fifteenth Convocation

President Muhammadu Buhari has acknowledged the immense contribution of private universities to the developmental growth of the country especially Igbinedion university, Okada

The president made the statement at the fifteenth convocation ceremony of Igbinedion University, Okada where some distinguished Nigerians were awarded with honorary doctorate degree.

Sight and sound at the at the fifteenth convocation ceremony of Nigeria’s premier private university, Igbinedion University, which attracted dignitaries from all walks of life including the representative of President Muhammadu Buhari, former Head of State, General Abdusalami Abubakar, Gombe state governor, Dr Hassan Dankwabo, his Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki, represented by the deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, former deputy Senate president Ibrahim Mantu and his wife, Matriarch of the House of Igbinedion, Lady Cherry Igbinedion, Chief Judge of Edo State, Justice Esohe Ikponwen among others

President Buhari, represented by a director in the Federal Ministry of Education, Joel Ojo while congratulating the first premier private university for the feat so far said the current administration holds education in high esteem as it remain the panacea to development of any country.

On his part, a former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar said what the institution has transformed into is exceptional and commended the Chancellor Sir, Chief, Doctor Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion for his consistency.

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN who described Igbinedion University as a national one because it accommodates all tribes across the country emphasized the importance of education to the developmental growth of any country.
He said despite the prevailing harsh economic situation of the country, hope still lies on education which if sincerely encouraged will turn the economy around.

On his part, Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, represented by the deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu said it was a thing of excitement that a youth was among the awardees, a situation that suggests that youths can no longer be linked to negative vices like snatching of ballot boxes but engage in meaningful ventures.

The Chancellor, Igbinedion university and the Esama of Benin, Sir, Chief, Doctor Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion while appreciating the former head of state, General Abdusalami Abubakar for his unflinching support to the project which has  produced personalities worldwide rendered songs to the admiration of the audience.

Former two -time Governor of Edo state, Chief lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion, who is also the Deputy Chancellor, Igbinedion university also x-rayed the journey so far, the challenges and efforts made to surmount them.

The pro -chancellor of the university, Professor Emeritus, Oluwale Akande and the Vice –Chancellor, Professor Eghosa Osaghae said Igbinedion university has over the years turned out graduates who worthy ambassadors of the institution in all spheres of life.
