Nigeria Union of Teachers, Edo State chapter has suspended its strike with immediate effect.
The State Chairman of NUT, Patrick Ikosimi made this known after a stakeholders’ meeting in Government House.
Mr. Ikosimi said though the decision received the approval of its national body, they are trusting the NLC to further canvass their case.
Also speaking, State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Emmanuel Ademokun thanked the NUT leadership both at the state and the national level, for listening to the voice of reason.
He however appealed to Edo State Government to consider paying primary school teachers as it did their counterparts in secondary schools.
In his remarks, Governor Adams Oshiomhole thanked the Union for resolving for suspend the strike.
The governor said for the purpose of clarity, Edo State was implementing the TSS allowance in full before the minimum wage increment that shot up the allowance beyond the resources of the state.
Christie Macaulay reports that primary school teachers in Edo State on the orders of its national body embarked on strike to demand for the full implementation of the 27.5 TSS allowance.
