MG Faruk Yahaya assumes office

Brigadier-General Faruk Yahaya has assumed office as the new Brigade Commander of the Four Brigade, Nigerian Army, Benin.

He took over from Brigadier-General Olajide Laleye, who has been redeployed to Headquarters Infantry Corps and Centre, Jaji as Chief of Staff.

The redeployment followed the appointment of Major General Tukur Yusuf Buratai as the new Chief of Army Staff and voluntary retirement of some senior officers from service.

Brigadier-General Faruk Yahaya, who assumed duty on fifth august, 2015 at the Headquarters, Four Brigade, Nigerian Army, Benin as the thirty-fifth Brigade Commander is a seasoned infantry officer, who rose to the rank of Brigadier-General after completing all statutory courses and examinations.

He participated in several operations in and outside the country and served in various units and formations in the Nigerian Army.

Until his appointment as Brigade Commander, Four Brigade, he was the Principal General Staff Officer at the Ministry of Defence, Abuja.
