Motorists and other road users plying Upper Sakponba Road by Third East Circular Road, Junction have decried the slow pace of work by the contracting firm handling the road.
Third East Circular Road Junction by Ekiosa market in Benin City, a major road leading to Upper Sokponba axis of Benin, neighbouring communities in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State as well as access to Abraka in Delta State.
Since the commencement of work on the road by the contracting firm handling the job, the junction has become a mini-market for traders who carry out brisk business occasioned by the blockage on the road making vehicular movement impossible on the road.
In an interview, some motorists and other road users decried the slow pace of work by the contracting firm handling the project, noting that most worrisome are the adjoining roads which include Saint Saviour, Eweka Road by Birtic Engineering, Eweka Lane, Uwaibi, Gorreti and Eradiauwa Road are riddled with potholes, slannges and without slabs, making the road impossible for vehicles.
They appealed to relevant authorities to urgently come to their aid to ameliorate their plight.
The news crew also visited office of Edo State Rapid Response to ascertain their position on the deplorable condition of Eweka and adjoining roads, the General Manager of the Agency, Mr. Festus Edughele said the roads have been captured for next year’s counterpart funding of World Bank and the State Government.
It is the expectation of motorists that the Third East Circular Road Junction construction project will be completed soon.
