The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and other stakeholders have adopted a template of etiquettes and regulations for this year’s hajj.
A meeting on the matter, attended by officials of NAHCON, state pilgrims welfare boards and travel agencies at the National Mosque in Abuja, agreed on sets of guidelines for the smooth operations of this year’s hajj.
The Chairman of NAHCON, Alhaji Muhammad Bello, said that some of the key areas agreed upon in the guidelines include conduct of pilgrims and activities of flight operators during the exercise.
He stressed the need for closer collaboration between state pilgrims welfare boards and the commission to enhance smooth operations during the exercise.
Bello underscored the need for synergy among the stakeholders to guarantee a successful hajj.
Also speaking, Sen. Mohammed Sani, the Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, commended NAHCON for convening the meeting, describing it as a proactive strategy.
Sani advised the welfare boards to play the games by the rules and exhibit high sense of patriotism and sportsmanship in discharging their responsibilities.
The NAHCON Commissioner in charge of Operations, Alhaji Abdullahi Muktar, said that the forum was to plan, modify, strategise and promote the need to carry out obligations effectively.
“We believe that this preparation will produce a better end result,” Muktar said.
He also urged operators to ensure adequate service delivery in making sure that all preparations for the exercise were done within schedule.
