Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has today arrested three suspects with a truck load of substance suspected to be Indian hemp.
The State Public Relations Officer of the agency, Mr. Michell Ofoyeju, who paraded the suspects before newsmen said a total of three hundred and thirty-two bags of Indian hemp were found in the truck.
According the public relations officer, the illicit drug loaded from Ondo state and the suspects were intercepted along the Benin by-pass while on their way to Delta state for delivery, following a tip-off from intelligent sources.
Mr. Michell Ofoyeju said the three hundred and thirty-two bags of the illicit drug and weighing five thousand, hundred and forty-six kilogrammes were concealed in wooden planks.
While expressing concern over the dubious means drug barons are using to make quick money, especially during festive period, said the suspects will be prosecuted accordingly upon conclusion investigations.
The driver of the truck and the two conductors who were arrested alongside the bags of Indian hemp speak on their level of involvement.
Mr. Ofoyeju also called on members of the public to always provide the agency with information on illicit drug activities and promised that the command will not relent in its fight against illicit drugs across the state.
