NLC Women committee in Edo State protest kidnap of female teachers

Nigeria Labour Congress Women Committee, Edo State Chapter, staged a peaceful protest to the office of the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, over the abduction of three female teachers by unknown gunmen.

Elabor Patrick reports that the protesters want the police to fish out the brains behind the abduction.

There was tension in the air, as the protesters marched through some major streets in Benin City to demand for the release of the three female teachers who were recently kidnapped from their school premises in Ekenwan Community by some masked gunmen.

The protesters also took their protest to the State Police Command where they expressed their grievances.

Members of the women wing of Nigeria Labour Congress in large number expressing their feeling and calling on relevant authorities to fish out those behind the adoption of three female teachers.

Comrade Aikoriogie Caroline, Chairperson of the group said they decided to stage the peaceful protest to register their feelings as it affects them over the kidnap of the three female teachers from their school premises on Ekenwan Community.

She said mothers in the state are supporting them with prayers and advised the kidnappers to release them unhurt, as what they are demanding for is unreasonable.

Public Relation Officer, Edo State Command, Moses Eguavboen thanked the women for their peaceful disposition and assured them that the command is on top of the situation.

He said the command sympatise with the immediate families and Edo women and assured them that the command will leave no stone unturned to ensure the safety of the victims.

The three female teachers were recently kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Edo State.
