Non-Academic Staff At UNIBEN Yet To Resume Despite Suspension Of Strike By The Joint Action Committee

Non Academic activities at the University of Benin are still on hold despite the suspension of the strike by the Joint Action Committee.
Amenze Obarisiagbon also reports that representatives of the three unions that make up the Joint Action Committee, Uniben Chapter comment on the rationale behind the suspension of the strike.

It was observed that offices such as Exams and Records, Student Affairs, and  CRP unit, were on under lock.

Chairmen of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Secretary of the National Association of Academic Technologists, University of Benin Chapter, explained that the strike has been suspended.

They however said that a meeting will be held on Monday, next week to inform their members who had initially downed tools, to resume work.

National Chairman of the Joint Action Committee and President of SSANU Comrade Samson Ugokwe  said a review will be done to monitor the level of compliance with the agreement reached with by the Federal government and threatened  to resume the strike should, if government renege on the agreements.
