Non Teaching Staff Of Federal University Of Technology Akure joins Strike

Teaching staff of the Federal University of Technology, Akure have commenced the nationwide indefinite strike as directed by it national body.

The Union Members maintain that the strike has become necessary to get desired attention from the federal government.

Union members of Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, NON Academic Staff union and National Association of Academic Technology from the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA. They have commenced an indefinite strike.

According to the chairman, Joint Action committee, comrade Dele Durojaye, the federal government has refused to implement the 2009 agreement which bothers on issues of staff of primary, school, anti-corruption, the Academic staff taking over the jobs of Non Academic staff in the universities, and failure of government to honour the MoU signed last year.
The nationwide strike by the union is expected to linger until the Federal government honours its own part of the agreement.
