The National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has cancelled its planned three day warning strike over Senate refusal to vote in favour of autonomy for local governments.
The National President of the Union, Malam Ibrahim Khaleel who announced the cancellation of the strike in Abuja said the decision followed the intervention of the leadership of the National Assembly.
He said the leadership of the National Assembly had shown concern and interest in the union particularly in its struggle for autonomy.
Mallam Khaleel said the National Assembly has assured the Union of maximum support on the issue, but advised the union to fight to secure the support of the state Houses of Assembly.
You will recall that the NULGE leadership on Friday directed all its members nationwide to begin a three-day warning strike on Monday.
