Obagie-N’evbosa set to host annual Oba of Benin Football Tournament

All is now set for the twenty fifth edition of the annual Oba of Benin Football Tournament which is scheduled to commence on Saturday at Obagienvbosa community.

The Enogie of Obagie-N’evbosa Dukedom, His royal highness Stephen Usiomwanta Imadomwinyi.

The Enogie said his community has decided to host this year’s edition to honour the Oba of Benin Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo , Oba Ewuare the Second on his one year anniversary on the throne.

Speaking while addressing the Edo State Contingent, the under thirteen male footbal team who has been camping in the community,

The enogie said as a true son of the Benin Monarch, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo , Oba Ewuare the Second who he knows quite well that he is passionate about sports especially grass root football, his community has chosen to organised in conjunction with Edo State chapter of YOUTFON a befitting tournament providing all necessary requirement for a successful hosting of this year’s edition of the football fiesta especially as it mark the one year anniversary of the Benin Monarch.

He assured the participating teams and visitors of adequate security and good hospitality during and after the tournament stressing that Obagie-N’evbosa Dukedom is a Godly community.

Earlier, the secretary of Youth Football Organisation of Nigeria, YOUTFON, Edo State Chapter, Comrade Moses Agbonlahor appreciated the the Enogie for his kind gesture and support in hosting the yearly football fiesta that is usually organised to honour the reigning Oba of Benin.

Also, the secretary of the host community commended his principal the Enogie of Obagie-N’evbosa dukedom for his swift response when the idea was sold to him and called on the public especially soccer lovers to graced the one week event adding that the community is well prepared to host the country.

The coach of Edo State male team also used the opportunity to table some of the challenges faces by his side.

His highness, Steven Usiemwanta while inspecting facilities at the Edion Primary School, venue for the one week long event used the opportunity to address some pressing needs of the school as he donates a complete set of assembly drum band immediately he heard about the pressing need of it.

The Oba’s cup which is for under thirteen male and under fifteen female organised by YOUTFON will run from fifteenth to twenty-first of October with twenty five states including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja participating.
