Odionwere, Elders and other indigenes of Ovah in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State have cried out over encroachment on the parcel of land belonging to the Oba of Benin in their village by Egor Community.
They appealed to the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare the Second to intervene before it degenerates.
The parcel of land measuring 500feet by 500feet in Ovah belonging to the Oba of Benin is situated on the border between Ovah and Ogheghe.
It was discovered that building foundations are springing up within the parcel of land.
Speaking on the situation, the Odionwere of Ovah, Chief Moses Egheuevbe and Elders of the village alleged that Egor people have encroached on the land.
According to them judgments have been given in favor of Ovah in court and the palace on the issues of land and boarder and express surprise why Egor would continue to disobey such judgment.
They appealed to the Benin monarch to quickly intervene on the issue is Ovah is peace loving. Reacting to the allegation, spokesperson for Egor community, Chief Samson Oboigba, who supported his argument with documents said Ovah is in off shot of Egor and wondered why they will be laying claim to the land. It is expected that the issue is amicably resolved to avert communal clash.
