Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, has confirmed the death of one of the eighteen injured victims of an explosion in Maiduguri.
Governor Shettima revealed this to reporters on Sunday after visiting the wounded persons who are receiving treatment at the Maiduguri specialist hospital.
Four of the injured persons are said to be in stable condition while the rest are in critical condition.
The National Emergency Management Agency said the explosion was carried out by two suicide bombers, a male and a female near the popular Monday Market in the Borno State capital, northeast Nigeria.
Following the incident, Borno State government has called for an emergency meeting with the management of all markets within the Maiduguri metropolis.
Meanwhile, Governor Shittima has ordered the reopening of the market for the day’s business.
The attack comes barely four weeks after six persons were killed in suicide bombing in a failed attempt to attack the Federal High Court in Jidari Polo area of Maiduguri.
