Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State says he has ordered a full scale investigation into the recent motor accident involving his convoy in which three Journalists died.
The Governor made the statement when he paid a condolence visit on the Esama of Benin, Sir Chief Dr Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion on the death of two members of staff of Independent Television in the accident.
Governor Oshiomhole said there might be more to the accident than the obvious and said he has directed the Police and other security agencies to get to the root of the incident.
Comrade Oshiomhole said he was pained by the death of the Independent Television Reporter, Olatunji Jacob and the Cameraman, George Okosun whom he described as brilliant and dedicated professionals.
The Governor noted with joy the cordial relationship that has existed between the Independent Television and the state government and described the death of the two members of staff of ITV as a huge loss not only to their families but also to the state government.
He prayed God to grant the families of the deceased the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Also speaking, a chieftain of Action Congress of Nigeria and former Minister for Foreign Affairs, Chief Tom Ikimi conveyed the condolence of the leadership of CAN to the Esama on the incident and prayed that premature death will no longer be experienced at Independent Television.
Responding, the Esama of Benin and honorary Romanian Consul to Edo and Delta States, Sir, Chief, Doctor Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion thanked the governor for paying the condolence visit.
Chief Igbinedion, who is also the proprietor of Independent Television/Radio said the death of Olatunji Jacob and George Okosun was a loss to the stations and prayed God to grant them eternal rest.
The Governor was accompanied on the visit by top government officials and leadership of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, including the state Chairman.
