PDP faults alleged plans by FG to remove fuel subsidy

PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Mr Diran Odeyemi, has said in Abuja that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration would be committing a sin to remove the subsidy which would inflict more hardship on Nigerians.

He said the advice by the International Monetary Fund for the fuel subsidy removal would not be helpful to Nigerians.

Mr. Odeyemi said, any attempt to remove the fuel subsidy would add to the burden of the suffering masses of Nigeria, especially at this time when food, employment and security of lives and property have been a problem.

IMF Managing Director, Christine Lagarde, had on Thursday last week, during the opening ceremony of the World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings in Washington DC advised Nigeria to remove  fuel subsidy and use the savings to upgrade social infrastructure.
