Pres. Buhari commends OIC for intervention in key sectors of Nigeria’s economy

President Muhammadu Buhari today departed the King AbdulAziz International Airport, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for Abuja, after attending the fourteenth summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Makkah.

While in Saudi Arabia, the President participated in the OIC Summit where he commended the decision of the organization to support the Inter-Basin Water Transfer Project aimed at addressing the shrinking of the Lake Chad.

President Buhari also thanked the organization for its various interventions under the Special Programme for the Development of Africa and the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development in some key sectors as trade and investment, agriculture, rural development and food security.

President Buhari is expected to host leaders of the Lake Basin Commission to an informal security summit on the sideline of his second term inaugural ceremonies on Twelfth of June in Abuja.
