Residents Of Benin Applaud Passage Of Peace Corp Bill

The recent passage of the bill that gave legal backing to the existence of peace Corp as a Para-Military outfit has been applauded by members of the public in Benin City.

Tolulope Adedayo reports that some respondents shares deep concern about the development.

The bill to make Nigeria Peace Corp a Para-Military agency has been passed by the Senate.

The bill was adopted based on the advice given to the senate by its committee on judiciary, Human rights and legal Matters.

The passage of the bill has brought smiles to the faces of the people especially youths who are seeking enlistment.

The commandant of the Nigerian Peace Corp, Edo State Chapter, Patriot Ayuba Tijani and the State P.R.O. Patriot Iyen George stated the aims and objectives of the Organization and promised to maintain cordial relationship with the public.

The peace Corp a Non-Governmental Organization has been in existence since 1998 are in the thirty-six states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory.

The bill passed by the Senate awaits the Assent of the President.
