Residents Doctors At Federal Medical Centre, Owo Protest Non-Payment Of Shortfall In 2016 Salary

Members of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo in Ondo State, have protested against the non-payment of shortfall in their 2016 salary, amounting to two hundred and eighty million naira.

The aggrieved doctors in a protest marched round the hospital’s premises.

The lingering issue of delay in payment of 2016 shortfall of salary of Resident Doctors at the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Owo in Ondo state, has affected activities  as the Resident Doctors  on a  protest to express their grievances and

Compel management of the hospital to address their demands.

The Doctors led by President of the National Association of Resident Doctors, FMC, Owo branch, Kunle Fakorede, accused the management of misappropriating funds.

Spokesman  Federal Medical center, Owo , Olagoke Omolade  exonerated  the Acting Medical Director, Liasu Ahmed  of embezzlement and debunked the doctors accusations he  appealed to the resident Doctors to be calm as  the issue is will be  addressed by the Federal Government.

Meanwhile,  the joint health sector union, JOHESU, federal medical centre, Owo chapter has commenced  an indefinite strike.

The union among other things is demanding for payment of  outstanding salaries increament since 2013 and the implementation of all court judgement won against federal government since 2013.

Members of the union  insisted that the strike will be indefinite if all their requests are not met.
